Things Biden and the Democrats did, this week #21
May 31-June 7 2024
As part of President Biden's goal to bring the number of traffic deaths to zero, the Department of Transportation has sent $480 million in safety grants to all 50 states, DC, and all the US territories. The grants will focus on trucks, buses and other large vehicles. Thanks to DoT safety actions deaths involving heavy vehicles dropped by 8% from 2022 to 2023 and the department wants to keep pushing till the number is 0.
The Departments of Interior and Agriculture announced $2.8 billion plan to protect public land and support local government Conservation Efforts. $1.9 billion will be used to repair and restore national parks and public land, restoring historic sites, as well as Bureau of Indian Education-funded schools. $900 million will go to conservation funding, allowing the government to buy land to protect it. Half the funds will go to the federal government half to state and local governments and for the first time ever a tribal Conservation Land Acquisition program has been set up to allow tribal governments to buy land to protect nature.
The Department of Transportation announced that it had managed to get customers nearly $1 Billion dollars worth of flight reimbursements. The DoT reached an agreement with 3 airlines, Lufthansa, KLM, and South African Airways to pay between them $900 million to passengers effected by Covid related cancellations and delays. This adds to the $4 billion dollars of refunds and reimbursements to airline passengers under the Biden Administration.
The Department of Interior announced $725 million to clean up legacy coal pollution. This is the 3rd pay out from the $11.3 billion dollars President Biden signed into law in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to clean up coal pollution and invest in communities that used to rely on the coal industry. The money will be spent across 22 states and the Navajo Nation. Closing dangerous mine shafts, reclaim unstable slopes, improve water quality by treating acid mine drainage, and restore water supplies damaged by mining.
HUD launches the first of its kind investment program in manufactured homes. Manufactured homes represent a major market for affordable housing and the Biden Administration is the first to offer support to people trying to buy. HUD hopes the program will help 5,000 families and individuals buy their own home over the next 5 years.
The Department of the Interior announced $700 million for long-term water conservation projects across the Lower Colorado River Basin. The Colorado River Basin provides water for more than 40 million people, electric power to 7 US States and is a critical crucial resource for 30 Tribal nations and two Mexican states. The project hopes to save more than 700,000 acre-feet of water in Lake Mead. In the face of climate change causing a historic 23-year drought, there is record low water levels at Lake Powell and Lake Mead. The Biden Administration has moved aggressively to try to protect the Colorado River and make sure there's enough water in the West.
HUD makes $123 million for fighting Youth Homelessness available. This represents the 8th round of investment in Youth Homelessness since 2021 for a total of $440 million so far. The Biden Administration is focusing on innovative answers, like host homes, and kinship care models, with emphasis on creating equitable strategies to assist youth who are most vulnerable, including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and youth with disabilities. This is part of the Biden Administration goal of cutting homelessness by 25% by the end of 2025
The Department of Agriculture announced a series of actions to strength Tribal food sovereignty. The USDA will grant tribes in Maine, Alaska, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oregon and Washington $42 million through the Indigenous Animals Harvesting and Meat Processing Grants to support native animal harvesting. $18 million for projects under the Tribal Forest Protection Act. As well as $2.3 million to support the service of Indigenous foods in school meal programs. The USDA also plans its first ever class of interns specifically focused on Tribal agriculture and food sovereignty. The USDA also plans to host a first ever international trade mission focused on Tribal Nation and Native Hawaiian Community businesses.
Bonus: President Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, and Secretaries of Defense Lloyd Austin and State Antony Blinken traveled to Normandy France to mark the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. They were joined by a handful of surviving veterans of the landings many over 100 years old.

okay as someone who is critical of performative activism can you explain to me how protesting isn't performative? not tring to 'gotcha' you, i just really don't get how standing holding signs in seattle impacts what's happening overseas. the 'block the boat' protest made sense to me bc they were stopping weapons sent to israel, and it makes sense when like laborers damage equipment as part of a work stoppage bc they're wasting the bosses money. but most protests seem to be about 'showing solidarity' and i feel like usually they're more for the benefit of the protestors and to make them feel good for getting involved even if the involvement doesn't directly affect the outcome of whatever they're protesting. i'm open to being wrong about that though?
I used to feel this way, anon. And then I saw Palestinian men full on crying at protests while Facetiming their relatives overseas to show them that people actually cared. And I saw young Palestinian kids walking in front of their parents, moms, dads, aunts, and uncles, leading the chants of thousands of people, filled with confidence, not afraid to name their home land and give a voice to their resistance. And I saw elderly Muslim people, people who have likely not attended many American protests before of this size, emboldened and waving Palestinian flags and recognizing old family friends in the crowd and embracing one another. And I saw the highway be stopped for hours by thousands of us, forcing the entire city's road system to be rerouted, forcing untold numbers to contend with the rage that is being felt. And I saw us shut down all Black Friday shopping on the north end of Michigan avenue, closing off Victoria's Secret (which has manufacturing plants on Palestinian land), and covering the largest Starbucks in the Midwest (an informal boycott Target) with dozens of pro-Palestinian banners and stickers. And I've seen us showing up for one another again and again and again, every weekend, blocking off boycotted stores, ending business as usual, disrupting traffic, exhausting the police (who have had to pull a lot of overtime to deal with us), drawing attention to the cause, ending politicians' fundraising and meet & greet events, and not allowing business to go on as usual our ourselves to be complicit any longer.
I get the jadedness. I do. I have been there, especially after seeing awful police violence against protestors in 2020 and then seeing very little legal change occur. But the meaningful change we need will not occur via legal avenues. Protest is a means of building up collective power, of training people to think more collectively, of helping to normalize the viewpoints that we are advocating for, of disrupting regular everyday activities such as shopping and work that distract people from what is happening, of wearing the police state, of making our political representatives fearful and tired, and of setting the stage for larger, bolder, more disruptive direct actions that prevent or end humanitarian crises.
Block the boat doesn't just happen out of nowhere. You have to have a dedicated team of organizers and hundreds to thousands of devoted activists, medics, legal observers, coordinators, and people on the side lines offering resources and food. You need people to feel uplifted, motivated, and confident. You don't just get that in one day. The west coast has been able to launch incredibly effective actions like these because their work is YEARS in the making. Every major protest, every autonomous zone, every organizing meeting, it has all led to this. It takes work. It takes people being willing to show up and do that work, regularly, even when it is not glamorous, even when they do not get a sticker for it, and even when they cannot always walk away feeling that they've done something personally in that moment. It is a collective, long term endeavor, and it requires toughness and commitment.
Besides, the protests we are talking about actually are direct actions. Protestors yesterday shut down Zara. And now the company has to contend with a lot of bad PR from thousands of us screaming outside Zara's flagship store in the Chicago, speaking out about its advertisements mocking the Palestinian people. Shutting down the highway multiple times and other boycotted stores and ruining political fundraisers is directly impactful too. Now if any protestors want to take it further than that, I welcome them and I'll be there to join them. The Black & Indigenous solidarity rally in 2020 was one really impactful example. It came to blows in a serious way, but we almost tore the Columbus statue down. The city was so afraid of another incident they took the statue down themselves.
This is how we get things done. We show up, in large numbers, we give comfort and steadfast support to those most targeted, we show the state our true numbers, we wake other people up from their slumber, and we keep pushing to do more. We need as many people on the line as possible. The presence of every single person at a protest is powerfully felt. Numbers gives us confidence, it literally keeps us warmer in the cold in a noticeable way, it shows Palestinian people that we are with them, it broadcasts a message on the world stage, and it makes it possible for things like flipping over police cars and starting fires and closing bomb manufacturers possible.

PR spin, credibility of team PR/team Real and the toxicity that they purposefully manufacture, the end of the shitshow: a few random thoughts
The PR spin
Some mods have been writing that the recent papwalk of Chris and Abba was staged (which it clearly was by the way), Jesal the trolling pap has admitted to it as well, proving something. But regarding celebrities, 99% of what comes out in the media or on SM is staged and manufactured for PR purposes.
Meghan and Harry call the paps on them all the time and people are not questioning whether they are a legitimate couple. Robert Pattinson and Suki have called Backgrid to show that they were expecting. And guess what? They were expecting. When Jennifer Garner was recently pictured giving money to a homeless person, it was clearly staged and probably served as damaged control for her horrible interview with Regina King.
So again the staging and the manufacturing for PR purposes do not give us any information on whether a couple is legitimate or if they are only playing for the cameras. Of course, we can strongly suspect Chris and Abba are not legitimate, there are so many clues and signs that point to it but it’s for another discussion.
The purposely badly manufactured PR

However, we can question the quality of the content that’s being fed to us because their papwalk didn’t sell their love or marriage at all (that aspect has been already discussed). So the question remains. Why is that? Does Chris hate her so much that he is incapable of acting a very simple scene? Or doesn’t he make much of an effort to sell it because it serves another purpose? Because, they are both actors and what is asked of them is not Sophie’s Choice. So many actors who hated each other’s guts had to play romantic leads and managed to sell it. On the show Castle, Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic famously hated one another and there are countless examples. But why can’t Chris and Abba do it? Or why won’t they?
The general public won’t look past the big picture. So for them, Chris and Abba will look either cute or creepy (most comments seem pretty negative though). However, the people who pay close attention will be able to interpret the signs the way they want to. So by staging this bad papwalk, they are feeding both team real and team pr by keeping the discourse very much alive and riling people up in order to keep them engaged.
It has been the tactics used by their teams since the very beginning. They have been weaponizing Chris’ fandom to instigate anger and division so that they could drive traffic and make them gain more attention. Because, they don’t register with the general public. Their names were not even used for clickbait in the Just Jared article about the Scarlett’s Christmas party (which was more likely Colin’s party given all the SNL people present but the spin that it was her party and not her husband’s is telling). Interest in him is fading and she is still a nobody. So the controversy, the inconsistencies, the mysteries and of course the end of the shitshow are all designed to keep his fandom (or what’s left of it) engaged.
Who are Team PR and Team real

By team Real and Team PR, I am not including mods who have an opinion on whether Chris and Abba are a legitimate couple with a PR spin (situationship or not, relationship or not, married or not) or exclusively PR but I am talking about mods who claim to know the truth one way or the other, who claim to have insider information and use vitriolic rhetoric against the other group and attack them constantly and viciously or anyone who writes anything contradictory to the narrative they are trying to sell. Those mods are, I believe, either trolls or plants paid by their teams to keep the discourse alive.
Why both Team PR and Team real have no credibility

Both Teams have lost all credibility at this point.
Team Real have seen some of their mods make a complete incredible nonsensical and non-credible U-turn from debunking Chris and Abba’s stunts to selling them as a real couple and shipping them. This includes the mods who had debunked the yoga certificate, pointed out the photoshopped pics in the scare videos or Valentine’s drop and so forth.
By the way, how credible is it that those people recognized the hotel room in Finland (that had 12 rooms by the way) from one picture of Chris and Abba? How credible is it that they recognized the hotel room in Lisbon from the video Chris did for that teacher? Also how credible is it (and how hilarious) that those mods got the exclusive that Renner and Hemsworth were in Boston and told two strangers that they were there for Chris’ kinda first “wedding” when they “reportedly signed an NDA” according to very reliable People’s magazine (read sarcasm here)?
Team Real also includes the mods that called Chris absolute horrible names like groomer and pedophile before making a complete U-turn  when they allegedly went to the NY con to get a pic with their favorite Captain America.
But Team PR has lost all credibility as well. They have pretended to be privy to private and personal information regarding Chris to spew nonsense, viciously attack, troll and lie for more than a year now.
One mod (that I won’t name) have recently made a post saying that people who didn’t know PR or Chris shouldn’t express their opinion on the matter. As if they had any credibility to do so themselves? Recently again they have said that the PR was about to be over because they were spending Thanksgiving apart and the Forbes articles made no mention of her. Also let’s not forget that those mods were part of a scam when they asked fans to give money for a fund to save Chris (a multimillionaire) from this PR nightmare!
But it’s very possible that those mods  don’t want people to express their opinions because they want to control the narrative, like their counterparts from Team real.
The controversy around the ending of that shitshow

I can safely say that the end of this shitshow is a controversial subject because I was recently insulted and blocked by one of those so-called Team PR blogs for only stating after the Forbes article that I thought that the PR games were very likely to continue for a while. I still believe a 4-month marriage would be bad publicity for Chris, especially after marrying a 26 year old that looks like his niece.
But what I find interesting is that they are pushing that the end is near (they have been pushing that lie since the Ghosted premiere by the way) when in truth no one knows when it’s going to end. Except the protagonists of that shitshow and their teams.
Of course they will probably be right at some point. I think no one believes that they are endgame. But what’s interesting is by keeping people’s hopes alive that it will end soon, they are making sure that people stay engaged. If you were to tell people, relax, it’s going to last for a while, many would check out and leave the fandom. Because many fans that are left are waiting for the end, desperately waiting for it.

EXCERPT #44:
Hello. I hope somebody is listening.
[
]
What more could I talk to you about, old sport
?

I can almost feel myself running out of conversation topics.
How long have we been doing this, old sport? And here I am
Twiddling my thumbs at the start of a long night, and a long call.
Have you been up to anything rece- Oh, who am I kidding? Why do I even ask?

I miss her, old sport. I miss Thalia.
I miss her in ways that I spite her for, like how you miss the snow in the summer, and the sun in the winter. In winter, you wish you did more in the summer, now that you can no longer feel your feet. In summer, you wish you didn’t sulk as much in the winter and instead soaked in the cosy, festive atmosphere.
I feel as though I shall live unsatisfied, for evermore.
I find myself questioning the sky. I ask it, “Was it her? Was she truly the one?”, and the stars blink back at me in silence.
Maybe I was wrong. I’m looking for signs, I’ve been looking for signs. There’s nothing. There’s not even a fragment of a sign that I could manufacture into a whole one. I’ll take anything! Anything to tell myself that I’m right.
Someone like her doesn’t just mean nothing. She doesn’t just get to go like that
That’s not how the story should end
Right? It makes no sense, if she wasn’t the one, there should’ve been someone else! There should be somebody else.
How could I have been wrong about this
? About her? But
But who else could there be
? Who else
?
[
]
The City has far but slowed down. My night patrols have now been rendered useless, from the amount of traffic now filling the streets. There is too much happening for me to patrol.
So, instead, I sit at the edge of each rooftop I find myself on and dangle my legs. They act like bait for the many different monsters in the City. I find comic relief in their foolish attempts to capture me.
However, as per the updates, the increased volume of screaming has reached an all-time high. On that note, I apologise for any background noise you may be hearing over the radio, old sport.
Sinkholes have now begun to open up whenever they’re hungry, or upset. The government decided to combat these by placing caution signs around them. They have yet to understand that these continue to be swallowed by the sinkholes.
I apologise if you’re bored, old sport. I really wish you not to be. But does wishing ever really get us that far in life
?

22.
1]; What is the nearest traffic sign to your house?
I think it's a stop sign.
2]; What year did you move into your current home?
2013.
3]; What year was it built?
1960s, I believe.
4]; What year was your vehicle manufactured?
I don't have a vehicle. I can't drive.
5]; What are your pets doing right now?
She's cleaning herself on the pillow next to me in bed.
6]; What is plugged into the nearest outlet?
TV.
7]; How many rolls of toilet paper, paper towel, and boxes of Kleenex do you have right now?
At least 20 rolls of toilet paper, no Kleenex, and one roll of paper towel.
8]; When did you last see your mother?
Tuesday.
9]; And your father?
End of August.
1o]; What are your 5 “oldest” recent emojis?
🙇đŸ˜șđŸ˜‹đŸ–•đŸŒđŸ’”
11]; What song plays in your head the most?
It changes. Lately it's a lot of Tina Turner and Whitney Houston because that's what I've been singing and listening to.
12]; Are your pets’ names actual classic pet names, human names, places, things, verbs, or what?
I'm pretty sure I discussed Nippy's name in another survey, but there's a backstory. Whitney Houston is my favorite vocalist of all time, and it's well known within the industry and among fans that her nickname was Nippy. A lot of people just assume I chose that name because of her not being super well socialized before I got her, which caused her to be suuuuuper bitey as a youngling, but that wasn't the reason. Just happened to have a double meaning. She also gets called Whitney when she's acting extra princess-y or when she's in trouble, both of which happen pretty much every day. Her middle name is Jean because it was one of my Nan's names and I was having a hard time coping with the grief of losing her when I found my cat, so I used it as a tribute also. It worked out. She's a very vocal cat and often meows along when I'm singing. Loves music playing. So Whitney Jean/Nippy Jean lives up to her name in all the ways.
13]; Have you ever received a card signed individually by a large group of people?
I think I did after my surgery.
14]; Who do you know that’s pregnant right now? No one I'm really close to.
15]; What did you do last weekend?
Went to go see Wicked, picked up a few things at the store, got food on the way home.
16]; Last night?
Not much. Went to talk to the maintenance guy because half the lights in my apartment randomly stopped working and found out it wasn't the breaker panel or burnt bulbs, so we need to call the electrician in to check things over and fix it as soon as they're available and not booked solid. That's really the only thing out of the ordinary I can think of.
17]; What did you last use scissors for?
To open a package of German salami sandwich meat that was vacuum sealed.
18]; Who have you helped move?
No one. I physically can't really help. I'm the one who would be feeling badly having to ask this of others.
19]; At what age did you get your first period? (Sorry if this one question doesn’t apply to you)
I was 11. << me too.
2o]; And what age was your first kiss?
15 when it was with someone I was actually dating.
21]; With whom are you planning trips currently?
There's nothing I'm currently planning, but the next thing that gets planned it'll probably be with Brittany. She's my concert/theatre buddy and always down for lots of little adventures with me if we can work it out and she's available.
22]; When is the last time you got laid?
If self serve also counts for this answer, then last night. Going with that because it's most recent.
23]; What all is in your pockets?
I have no pockets.
24]; What is the last strain of weed you smoked/consumed however?
Idk. I haven't smoked weed in years.
25]; What size is your bed?
Queen.
26]; What size are the spare beds?
Lmfao, spare beds. What a luxury.
27]; What is the last load of laundry you did? Colours, darks, towels..?
I don't separate colours because I have nothing that's gonna run. The only time I separate anything are some items within any given load that can't go in the dryer. I did have to do that tonight with a couple things so they could just hang dry.
28]; What is the last YouTube channel you watched?
Two Hot Takes.
29]; What is the last thing you used water for?
To wash dishes.
3o]; How old are you turning next year?
33.
31]; What is the last thing you wrote down?
By hand? Idk.
32]; Who is the last friend you spent time with?
Brittany.
33]; What calendar year did you last turn a multiple of 11?
I'll be 33 next year.
34]; What is the range of year answers in this survey (2, 3, 4, 33)?
1960s-2025.
35]; How many people have texted/messaged you today?
Two.
36]; Last person to comment on your anything?
Robyn replied to one of my other surveys on here when I tagged her in an answer.
37]; What are you doing after this survey?
Getting up to pee.
38]; How many steps did you walk yesterday?
Just the ones I took while bearing weight/transferring. I'm disabled, so it wouldn't be a high number.
39]; How many hours of sleep did you get last night?
Like four. :/
4o]; How many tattoos do you have?
Two with a third planned out and ready to be booked asap.

34]; What is the range of year answers in this survey (2, 3, 4, 33)? 1970s-2022.

38]; How many steps did you walk yesterday? No idea.

Sound Insulating Curtains: How Custom Solutions Improve Acoustic Comfort
Tumblr media
Sound insulating curtains, also known as acoustic curtains, are designed to reduce noise and enhance the acoustic comfort of a space. These specialized curtains are particularly beneficial in environments where noise reduction is crucial. This article explores how custom sound insulating curtains can improve acoustic comfort and provides tips for selecting and using them effectively.
1. Understanding Sound Insulating Curtains
Sound insulating curtains are crafted to absorb and block sound, creating a quieter and more comfortable environment:
Acoustic Properties: These curtains are made from dense, heavy materials or layered fabrics that absorb sound waves and reduce noise transmission. They help minimize echo and reverberation within a room.
Material Composition: Common materials used in sound insulating curtains include thick fabrics like velvet, wool, and specialized acoustic linings. The construction often involves multiple layers to enhance soundproofing.
2. Benefits of Sound Insulating Curtains
Custom sound insulating curtains offer several key benefits:
Noise Reduction: These curtains effectively block external noise, making them ideal for homes near busy streets, offices, or studios. They can reduce the impact of traffic, construction, and other environmental sounds.
Improved Privacy: By minimizing sound transmission, sound insulating curtains also enhance privacy. They prevent conversations and sounds from escaping or entering a room, which is valuable in both residential and professional settings.
Enhanced Focus and Productivity: In workspaces or study areas, reducing noise distractions can improve concentration and productivity. Sound insulating curtains create a quieter environment conducive to work or study.
3. Custom Solutions for Optimal Performance
Custom sound insulating curtains provide tailored solutions for the best acoustic performance:
Exact Fit: Custom curtains are made to the exact dimensions of your windows, ensuring complete coverage and maximum noise reduction. Proper fitting is crucial to prevent sound leakage through gaps.
Fabric and Layering: Choose fabrics with proven soundproofing qualities. Custom curtains can be designed with additional layers or linings specifically for acoustic purposes, enhancing their effectiveness.
4. Installation Tips for Sound Insulating Curtains
Proper installation is essential for achieving optimal sound insulation:
Full Coverage: Ensure that the custom curtains cover the entire window area and extend beyond the edges. This helps to eliminate gaps where sound could penetrate.
Hanging Height and Placement: Install the curtain rods or tracks high and wide to allow the curtains to fall fully and ensure complete coverage. This also prevents sound from entering through the sides or top of the window frame.
5. Selecting the Right Sound Insulating Curtains
When choosing custom sound insulating curtains, consider the following factors:
Thickness and Density: Opt for curtains with high density and thickness to maximize sound absorption. Heavier fabrics and additional linings contribute to better acoustic performance.
Design and Aesthetics: While functionality is key, custom curtains can also be designed to match your décor. Choose colors, patterns, and styles that complement your room while providing the necessary soundproofing.
6. Maintenance and Care
Sound insulating curtains are designed to be durable and easy to maintain:
Cleaning: Follow the manufacturer’s care instructions for cleaning. Many sound insulating curtains are machine washable or can be spot cleaned to remove dust and stains.
Regular Checks: Periodically check the curtains for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure that the fabric and installation remain effective for sound insulation.
Conclusion
Custom sound insulating curtains offer a practical solution for improving acoustic comfort and reducing noise. By selecting the right materials, ensuring proper installation, and maintaining the curtains, you can create a quieter and more serene environment. Whether for a home, office, or studio, sound insulating curtains enhance both privacy and productivity by addressing noise concerns effectively.

Part 1: USA
Hello everyone! Happy pride month!
Last month I stated that coming June I would post about historical queer events around the world. This is part 1 of North America. Later today I will post parts 2 & 3, Belize and Greenland. The pride month calendar can be seen in our pinned post!
That being said, I'm excited to show you what I've been working on. (Also thanks Mom for helping me edit this)

Stonewall Inn was one of many bars in Greenwich Village, New York City. It, just like many others, was owned by the Genovese crime family, the local mafia. The family thought it would be profitable to cater towards the gay citizens, shunned by most every other bar and person. Police had been bribed to ignore it, and on the occasions that they did raid the bar, ‘dirty’ cops would send a tip.
June 28th 1969, Stonewall Inn had just experienced a routine raid a couple days before. Officers burst in carrying a warrant, and arrested thirteen people. In order to check if they were truly ‘cross-dressing’, female officers would take them into the bathroom and have them strip
Usually when this happened everyone would let it go, they’d be mad, but they wouldn’t do anything. This time, however, an officer had hit a butch lesbian(widely assumed to be StormĂ© DeLarverie), in the head with a baton while getting her into the car. She yelled for the onlookers to act, and they did. Bottles, stones, pennies, and other things were thrown at the police. Among the first to throw them were two trans lesbians of color, Sylvia Rivera and Marsha Johnshon. The officers boarded themselves in the Inn, but the crowd had begun setting it on fire. Not long later, the firemen and riot control came and took control of the situation.
This event may be the one we are most familiar with, but it’s not the only thing that happened. Here are some links to other events that happened shortly before and after.

Back in 1987, the AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) epidemic had just been labeled an epidemic. There were very few treatments, and only one FDA approved one. This treatment, called AZT (zidovudine) , was only manufactured by one company. Burroughs Wellcome, a pharmaceutical company, had made the drug nigh inaccessible. The price was so high, that very few people could afford it.
ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power), was created in response to this. Larry Kramer was among the ones to originate this movement. The activist groups scheduled a march on Wall Street in 1987, scheduled to disrupt traffic during the morning rush hour. Activists laid in the street and held signs, chanting phrases like “We are angry, we want action”, and “Release those drugs.” Seventeen activists were arrested, but shortly afterwards the FDA announced it would lower the required time for drugs to be approved from nine years, to seven.

In June of 2015, gay marriage was legalized by the supreme court in the landmark case Obergefell v. Hodges, forcing fourteen states to legalize same-sex marriage.
The case started in 2013, when James Obergefell and his husband John Arthur James, filed a lawsuit in Ohio when they realized that their marriage would not be recognized on Arthur's death certificate.  During the lawsuit, Arthur, who had a terminal illness, passed.
Plaintiffs told Obergefell that state officials were not going to approve his name being on Arthur’s death certificate, but filed the complaint anyway. The judge the case went to, Judge Timothy Black, granted Obergefell a temporary order that would allow Arthur to be marked as wed.
The plaintiffs and Judge Black were not happy with this however, and the plaintiffs amended their complaint, adding two more plaintiffs. They asked that Ohio declare that their refusal to honor out of state marriages on death certificates, was unconstitutional and asked that they would fix it. Judge Black also declared it unconstitutional and banned the state from enforcing it upon the plaintiffs.
The department of health director Wymyslo appealed this, but was unable to see the case through. As was his successor Lance Himes. Himes’ successor Hodges was the one to finally see the case in court, where it was appealed.
Obergefell filed a petition for a Writ of Certiorari with the supreme court, in 2014. In January of 2015, the Supreme Court granted it, allowing the case to be heard. The Supreme Court, decided after much deliberation, to recognize same-sex marriage as a right under the fourteenth amendment.

THE SEEKER (SOUL VOID) HEADCANONS, THEORIES, AND ANALYSIS
SPOILERS!!!! OI!!!
tw: brief self harm mention, car crashes, death, blood mention, mental health struggles (is that too vague?). Let me know if anything needs to be added.
Demi and pan
The guy ever ❀
has a fear of failure. It’s pretty intense, but I’m not sure if it’s to the level of Atychiphobia since Atychiphobia will usually result in the individual avoiding situations in which they could fail, and he definitely doesn’t. But. It sure does come close.
if he ever played DND he’d play a neutral good wizard. It’s the research aspect for him.
probably died in the 1960s. Fedoras had begun to fall out of fashion in the 70s, so it would give him a good time period to be wearing those (the fashion died when he did 😔)
ALSO: Car safety regulations began to be a concern in the 1970s. There, manufacturers started offering airbags and anti-lock brakes, better seatbelts, etc.
quote from a source I ain’t citing: “President Johnson signed the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966 into law on September 9, 1966”
I’d like to imagine he died right before those car safety regulations. For the Irony.
He canonically uses phrases like “post-haste” so I’m putting him in the humanities field. Maybe history major with a minor in philosophy. (Did they have majors and minors back then? Probably not in the same way we do now)
Because he died trying to get someone out of a car crash, I assume that he had been one of the people in the car when it crashed— otherwise, how would he have lost his life by just approaching the car and trying to pull people out? Sure, Fire/car exploding is possible. But since he’s shown to have glass shards stuck in the same places where his scars are, I assume that he died from the broken glass of the car -> over exerted himself trying to save others and bled out.
The Seeker is completely unaware of how many void residents stan him (we all saw the Husk’s mural of him)
(is it a mural if its on the floor?)
Probably has imposter syndrome.
bitchass motherfucker would cry at sad movie scenes (unless someone else is also crying)
some theories:
It’s been confirmed that a soul’s journey through the SV depends on the soul itself. There was a guy in the Respite Biome that described a starkly different experience than the player’s, and then came to conclusion that the journey was different for everyone. However, I still think souls can cross paths if they share something in common with other souls. So if each biome represents an aspect of the individual’s trauma, then the biomes in which the Seeker has been should give insights on his character, right? Because he talked to the Respite Entity and inspired them to make a change before leaving— and yet the Leech does not seem to have met him (with how lucid she is about her situation, she would definitely have been able to collaborate with the Seeker in some way, and yet he isn’t mentioned). Even though the Leech Biome (guilt, I think— guilt and being toxic/parasitic in relationships) is very close to the Respite in the player’s journey, the Seeker does not come across it because it is not a trauma he shares. His books do not appear there.
He and his books appear in the grasping forest (wanting something always out of reach, implied to be happiness, loss of self*), his books are in the enamel core and the veiny area (idk what these represent), the Sketchyard (feeling of not being good enough despite efforts to improve/bring joy to others), and the respite. *he is shown to be afraid of losing his sense of self, both in his journal entries and when he’s dying on the ground.
The glass shards area (before the Leeches and after the Respite) probably has to do with his death. Idk why the player can access it, unless they also have trauma relating to car crashes/etc— or maybe it’s more generic. Maybe that biome stands for broken glass or sharp things in general (sharp things and allusions to self harm appear throughout the player’s journey, along with a glass bottle that is so pivotal to their character that it is used as one of the three keys to access the Grim).
I think a big theme for his character is how talking with people who share your trauma/experiences or can relate to them can be helpful to both know you aren’t alone, and to share stories/coping methods. The Seeker is able to traverse many biomes (although not all) because he shares their trauma somewhat. This is further cemented by his ability to sense others emotions by touching them.
Not all souls who share experiences form healthy relationships, of course. Some can become unhealthy/manipulative/dependent (ahem ahem, Grim and Leech). The individual needs to take steps to maintain healthy relationships (as is with any relationship, regardless of who is involved).
@captain-will
Now that you’ve finished the game I have released the hcs
